Experts' Discussion: Unlocking the Future Direction of Pharmaceuticals
This forum invited well-known industry experts, scholars from colleges and universities, and business leaders at home and abroad to conduct in-depth discussions on six hot industry topics: the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the pharmaceutical industry, unmanned environmental protection factories, micro-chemical engineering and continuous flow, international cutting-edge biopharmaceutical factory design concepts, bioreactors, and the implementation of informatization.
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, pharmaceutical innovation made rapid progress, the industrial concentration was further enhanced, and pharmaceutical exports achieved rapid growth. However, there were problems such as unbalanced development of various sub-industries, intensified differentiation in enterprise operations, and slow upgrading of the export structure. Mr. Wang Xuegong, Executive Vice President of the China Pharmaceutical Enterprise Management Association, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Analysis of the Development Situation of the Pharmaceutical Industry During the '14th Five-Year Plan' Period". Wang Xuegong stated that the "14th Five-Year Plan" period is a critical period for the adjustment of the pharmaceutical industry structure, a critical period for the transformation of innovation-driven development, and also a critical period for the establishment of new growth models and new industrial patterns. During this stage, various forces are in a state of entanglement and game, and the industry may usher in major changes in development. Wang Xuegong emphasized that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the focus is to accelerate the transformation of innovation-driven development, build advantages in the industrial chain, improve manufacturing levels, improve the drug supply guarantee system, create international competitive advantages, and build a high-value, high-level, and internationalized large Chinese pharmaceutical market.

Dr. Chen Ping, Director, Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer of TIANS Group, delivered a keynote speech titled "Intelligent and Lean Operations of Sewage Treatment Workshops in Chemical Enterprises". He elaborated on five aspects: problems and countermeasures in environmental protection workshops, biodegradation of pollutants and case reviews, SND technology, intelligent control, and plans for energy conservation, consumption reduction, and emission reduction. Dr. Chen Ping stated that through intelligent control methods such as precise aeration, precise dosing (for phosphorus removal), precise Fenton sludge reduction, stable water inflow precise control, and precise control of hydrolysis acidification, the environmental protection workshops of pharmaceutical enterprises can achieve improvement in efficiency, significant reduction in costs, safer production, increasingly lean management, and more dynamic decision-making, ultimately realizing a green and intelligent future.

Professor Luo Guangsheng from Tsinghua University, who is also the director of the State Key Laboratory, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Microchemical Technology and Continuous Flow Synthesis". Professor Luo Guangsheng first introduced the urgent demand for new technologies, new equipment, and new processes in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering at the current stage, starting from the challenges faced by chemical production and chemical synthesis research. Subsequently, Professor Luo Guangsheng elaborated on microchemical technology, stating that this technology involves continuous, efficient, and controllable reaction and separation processes carried out in confined spaces of micrometer or submillimeter scale. It adheres to the basic principle of "numbering-up", directly applying laboratory achievements to industrial processes, thereby realizing the large-scale preparation of chemicals. For the pharmaceutical industry, how to achieve continuous production from batch production has been a hot research direction in recent years. In the second half of the lecture, he introduced the development direction of continuous chemical synthesis technology from the aspects of continuousization of batch processes and continuousization of complex multi-step reactions, providing strong theoretical support for the exploration of continuous production in the pharmaceutical industry.
